What I'd change

All of this comes back to one thing. East Brunswick already knows how to teach kids one at a time. It just keeps that skill locked in one department.

Personalized pathways

Same student. Two systems.

Same kid, same bad week, same counselor's office. Press play and watch the two versions come apart.

Both paths shown

What happens now

  1. Referred, classified, moved out of the general track
  2. Separated from the friends he had in September
  3. Told he isn't eligible for AP
  4. Coasts. Nobody notices.

What I'd rather happen

  1. Gets counseling for the thing that actually happened
  2. Stays in his classes with his friends
  3. Signs up for AP because he wants to
  4. Works harder than he has in two years
